Theres nothing more maddening than seeing dog poop on your freshly pressed sheets. But instead of losing your sanity, you can do the following so your beddings will be spared next time:
Consult with the veterinarian
If the dog keeps on pooping on your bed, its best to take it to the vet first. This way, the veterinarian can rule out possible health problems that cause the behavior. This is especially true if your dog is old and experiences diarrhea frequently.
The vet can also propose a treatment plan and other tips to help your dog eliminate on the right spot.
Take the dog out
Not all dogs can open doors and not all of us can install a doggie door. With this, you should schedule your dogs poop time properly. Make it frequent and scattered throughout the day.
Take note that healthy and young dogs can hold their poo and pee for a maximum of eight hours. However, some can only take it for five to six hours. If you have a senior or sick dog, I suggest taking it out every four hours to eliminate.
For those who are working long hours, its best to ask someone to take the dog out for a potty. You can also hire dog sitters who can drop by your home at the time youll schedule with them.
Perform proper housetraining
Housetraining is one of the basic training sessions you have to perform with your dog. You should do this properly and slowly so your doggo can catch up.

Most often when a client consults with me regarding her cats inappropriate urination on her bed, I can usually identify an anxiety-related issue. We try to identify the stressors that are contributing to the cats inappropriate behavior. Is there an issue related to the litterbox, location of the box or substrate that is causing the cat to stray away from the designated toileting area? Or are we dealing with a social issue either tension in the relationship with the owner or with another cat, family member or pet in the household?
First, we need to assess the conditions of the litterbox. How often is the litterbox cleaned? A litterbox should be cleaned at least once daily. Make sure you are providing the most ideal litter, box type and location for your cats toileting area. While the ideal litter may vary according to a cat’s individual preferences, previous studies have indicated that the majority of cats prefer finely ground substrate, such as clumping clay litter. Although manufacturers may make scented litter to appeal to humans, some cats may prefer unscented litter.
Litter Box Isn’t Comfortable
The next reason is that your cat is dissatisfied with their litter box. Whether it is the sand you have chosen, cleanliness, sharing with another cat or location, your cat doesn’t like their litter box.
You’ll need to make sure there are enough litter boxes for the amount of cats you have in your home, that the sand is good quality so it won’t irritate your cat, the litter box is cleaned regularly and make it’s a comfortable litter box. How Do You Stop A Cat From Peeing On The Bed
Getting to the source of why your cat peed on your bed, will help you to manage the situation effectively. It is crucial to eliminate any medical issues with a visit to the vet.
Dont scold or raise your voice when your cat pees outside of their box. Your cat is not being naughty or vindictive by peeing on your bed. Theyre communicating their needs to you the best way they can.
Shouting and becoming angry with your cat wont make the situation any better. It can do more damage than good, by causing your cat more anxiety.
Start by addressing any potential issues with the litter box. Assess its placement, relook the actual litter and upgrade to more or bigger boxes should it be necessary. The idea is to create a litter box situation that your cat is comfortable with and wont avoid.

What Do I Do If My Cat Poops On My Bed

- The simplest temporary solution is to prevent access to the bed by closing the bedroom door, but of course, the root of the problem still needs to be addressed.
- Clean the bed as soon as possible so that the smell does not encourage your cat to keep pooping on your bed. Use enzymatic cleaners to eliminate odours.
- If you cannot close the door, cover the bed with newspapers or plastic, as many cats find it unpleasant to step on these surfaces. This is another temporary solution.
- Lastly, never scold your cat. They are not doing this to get back at you, this is a symptom of an underlying problem. Therefore scolding them for this behaviour will only harm your relationship with them and may lead to more behavioural problems.
To find the cause and address the root of the problem we recommend you:
- Take them to the veterinarian to rule out any medical problems that may be causing this behavioural issue.
- Make sure they are comfortable in their litter box, that they have enough litter boxes around the house.
- Make sure that their litter boxes are cleaned regularly.
- Help them with their stress if they are experiencing any changes in their lifestyle.

The Vet should be your first stop whenever there is any kind of litter box problem or behavioral changes. Have your cat thoroughly examined and when they get a clean bill of health, talk with your vet about your specific litter box set up at home.

Scooping the box and cleaning it out regularly only takes a few minutes a week. Just remind yourself, the longer you let it sit, the longer it will take to clean.
Just make sure youre scooping at least twice a day and have more than one litter box so there will be a greater chance that your cat can find a clean litter for them to perform.

If you have a multi-cat household, you may not have enough litter boxes for the number of cats you have. The general rule is one extra litter box for how many cats you have. That means if you have 3 cats, you should have 4 litter boxes and they should be spaced out, clean, and kept away from chaotic areas of the house and the dog.
