Rescue Kitty With 4 Ears And One Eye Escapes Misery By Finding His Forever Home

The Ferndale Cat Shelter is a non-profit 5013 dedicated to providing medical care, adoption services, foster homes and trap-neuter-release programs for felines in the Metropolitan Detroit area. As a no-kill organization, our mission is to improve the lives of felines in our community and elevate the standards of cat guardianship and adoption. Our licensed shelter is the Catfé Lounge, a cat café that serves as our hub for cat adoption, volunteering and fostering.

Sorry But Big Cat Rescue Is Not Open To The Public

Cancelling our tours means we have lost 1/3 of our income which is a loss of over 1 million dollars per year. As a result, we had to let go 10 of our 20 staff and contractors. Even if we could rebuild the revenue, by resuming tours, the 3-4 hours a day we have been able to spend enlarging homes for each cat while not giving tours, has made it difficult to see any cats because they have so much space. Transparency is important so our donors of $500 or more per year can schedule a private tour for themselves and one other person, and we have ramped up our virtual options, such as our LIVE webcams where you can chat with people who love big cats at and see our virtual options at BigCatRescue.org/VR

Leighs Lost And Found: Cat Rescue Saves More Than A Dozen Cats From A Cleared Out Homeless Camp

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – In todays Leighs Lost and Found, a follow up to a Springfield homeless camp being cleared out and who came to the rescue of the many cats left behind.

When the cat rescue Eden Animal Haven heard about those cats, it knew it had to help. The founder put the call out on social media and got an amazing response.

We had absolutely no idea what we were going to find.

What Leslie Sawyer and many volunteers found, was more than a dozen cats and kittens, left to fend for themselves in the cleared out camp.

Leslie tells us, its just a miracle how all the right people and timing of everything just fell into place. We loaded up a bunch of carriers one morning and headed to the camp, hoping we could catch as many by hand as we could.

They actually caught them all, 17 in total.

Leslie gave them all names based on nuts, like Ginko, who is likely the patriarch of the colony

They range in age from about three years to eight weeks, and are surprisingly, very socialized.

According to Leslie, theyre all negative for feline leukemia. Weve started their vaccinations and we have our first group going in for spay and neuter next week and then after that, as long everything goes good, theyll be ready to go into adoptive homes.

Leslie says the rescue happened at the perfect time since Eden is offering an adoption special this month.

We did get a grant through Petfinder and are able to take $50 off each adoption fee in the month of September.

One By One Cat Rescue is a great place to adopt a cat! Lori took her time to get to know what I was looking for before matching me with Nani and Aboo, who are a perfect fit! I like how the shelter has the cats free to roam in their rooms and not in cages. The staff cares about the cats and it shows. I would definitely recommend!

About One By One Animal Advocates

The purpose of One By One Animal Advocates is to help animals in our local animal shelters, as well as those in the community, find homes or rescues, and to reduce the rate of euthanasia due to overpopulation. We also promote and encourage spay and neuter, and the transformation of shelters from high-kill to no-kill.

Why Should You Adopt

One year ago when i rescued her and now showing gratitude.

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

Big Cat Rescue Is Caring For Big Cats And Ending The Trade

Join us in the freedom fight for exotic cats! They were designed to live free not in cages. The number one cause of abuse is the practice of posing with big cats and their cubs because it creates a flood of discarded cats that serve no conservation value and end up dead or in conditions that are often even worse. You will find us to be completely transparent in our values, care of our many wild cats, and finances.

By Far The Best One My Husband & I Have Ever Been Too

This rescue shelter is by far the best one my husband & I have ever been too. They truly care about the animals, they dont keep them locked in a cage all day every day, the place is extremely clean and the staff is very very nice! My husband and I traveled an hour to come to their shelter and it was 100% worth it, while we did not adopt the cat we had planned for, we did adopt one that bonded with us very well during our time there. The adoption process was very easy and they responded quickly to us & our application.

What We Do

We are a feline-friendly rescue! We help find homes for friendly kitties who can no longer be cared for or are over the life on the street. We take in owner surrenders, friendly stray cats, or new kittens who need cared for until they can find a home. We run out of a few foster homes and our Cat Lounge in Kennedy/Robinson Twp. When we receive calls for help, we will bring the kitty into one of our foster homes. We will evaluate and vet the new cat to ensure it is healthy and able to be adopted. When vet care is complete and there is room at the Cat Lounge, we bring them over to the awesome adoption center where they can meet potential adopters and have wonderful social interaction with other cats & humans.
