Cat Spay And Neuter Vouchers Now Available

Pet and Wildlife Rescue is doing its part to help keep the cat population in Chatham-Kent in check.

Theyre offering local residents discounted vouchers to get their cat spayed or neutered.

There is a limit of five per household, and the cost to the cat owner is $40, the rest is covered by us, said PAWR operations manager Myriam Armstrong. They would be able to pick from one of the four clinics that are participating in the program, and they also have the option to get a free microchip for their cat.

The vouchers can be used at Merritt Animal Hospital in Chatham, Dresden Veterinary Clinic, Grand Ave Pet Hospital in Chatham and Tilbury Veterinary Hospital.

Armstrong added that the program is open to Chatham-Kent residents only.

So they can purchase it online and it gets mailed to them within a week. Then they get to pick from one of the clinics that is participating, they contact the clinic, book their own appointment. When they are bringing their cat in for surgery, they bring their voucher with them, and the clinic bills us directly.

The vouchers are good until October 1st, 2021, and PAWR has been fundraising for over a year to offer the program because they cover the difference in cost.

If you do it locally, it just varies from one clinic to another, but you will not get a spay/neuter for until $100 to $150 minimum., said Armstrong. So its quite the savings, especially if you have more than one cat.

Feral Cat Spay/neuter Voucher Application Form

Our feral cat voucher program is designed to reduce the cost of getting your feral cats altered by providing you with a coupon that can be used at the time of surgery. This program is open at no cost to residents of Centre County. If you are a Centre County resident, you can use the voucher at any veterinary practice in Centre County or at the Allegheny Spay/Neuter Clinic in Woodland.

If you do not live in Centre County, you can purchase feral cat spay/neuter vouchers for $55 each. For non-Centre County residents, vouchers may be used only at Allegheny Spay/Neuter Clinic or All Pets Vet Clinic .

Feral cats are “wild” cats who cannot be easily touched. They are most often cats who will be released outdoors after being spayed/neutered. These cats must have their ear tipped while sedated to easily identify them as altered.

Households can request an unlimited number of feral cat vouchers per year. We operate the voucher program on the “honor” system and ask people to only apply if they really cannot afford the surgery otherwise so that we can help as many truly needy families as we can.

    Benefits Of Neutering Your Cat:

Similarly to spaying, neutering holds many beneficial points for both the owner and the cat.

    • Male cats urinate on areas to leave their mark which works like a marking habit for them. Neutralizing your cat will eradicate the chances of spraying urination. In other words, it will reduce their marking habits.
    • Neutral using your cat means eliminating the serious threat of testicular cancer.
    • Neutering can lead to freedom from the illness of hyperplasia of the prostate gland along with perineal hernias.
    • Most of the time, cats exhibit behavioral issues stemming from sexual distress. Neutering a cat will put an end to such distress issuing from sexual need.
    • Most of the time cats roam here and there in search of their mating partner. By removing their glands, you can put an end to it.

Similar to the cats who had been spayed, those cats who have been neutralized dont feel sexually frustrated. Many times the cats are not permitted to mate because of health-related and behavioral threats but neutralizing them by free cat neuter near me can decrease the chances of such a crisis arising.
