Adopting A Feline Rescue Cat
Adopting at Feline Rescue supports our no-kill mission, with a lifetime commitment to each cat.
All of our cats receive high-quality veterinary care and exams in house. Prior to adoption, all cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, treated for external and internal parasites, microchipped and receive age-appropriate vaccinations. Cats over 16 weeks are tested for FeLV/FIV. The adoption fee offsets part of these costs.
Cats in need are brought into the shelter on a weekly basis. Intake is based on staffing availability and shelter capacity. Please check this page regularly to see more cats in need of adoption into safe, loving homes. Thank you for choosing the adoption of rescue cats!
Wags And Whiskers Animal Rescue
This rescue is a foster based program where animals are with foster families instead of in a shelter environment. The people doing the fostering then become acclimated to an animals personality and can better match people with the appropriate pet. They also hold several adoption events several time s a month at PetSmart locations if you would like to meet any of the animals.

Act V Rescue And Rehabilitation
This rescue was founded and is still run by four animal loving friends out of Bloomington. Aside from rescuing, rehabilitating and re homing animals this shelter is involved with other shelters and rescue centers across the Midwest. Just a couple of other programs they work with are for low income medical assistance which helps families get medical attention and spay/neuter services that could not otherwise afford it and work with Twin Cities Shelters to remove animals that have been there a long time that are at risk for euthanasia. They then place them in a trained foster home to work on things such as training and behavioral modification through positive means.

It is an all volunteer organization, with no paid staff funded exclusively through donations and grants. They receive no municipal, state, or federal funding. Enriching The Lives Of Our Shelter Animals
While nothing can compare to the comforts of home, Animal Ark strives to provide an enriching environment for our shelter animals. Cats are housed in rooms built specifically for small sociable groups of cats. These condos feature exterior windows and multiple cat trees and perches to provide a warm, comfortable environment for our feline friends, helping to bring out the best aspects of their personalities. Each dog is provided with a spacious kennel as their own individual space, equipped with a raised cot, blankets, chew toys, and plenty of treats. During the day, our spacious outdoor play yards are utilized, providing a chance for playtime with other dogs and our shelter staff. In the heat of the summer, the dogs have a chance to splash and play in kiddie pools in the outdoor yards, providing entertainment as well as cool relief in the heat of Minnesota summers.With Animal Arks staff providing basic medical care and keeping of our shelter animals, a dedicated group of volunteers provides the next level of care, making the rehabilitation of these wonderful animals possible. Our volunteers provide needed socialization for the companion animals living at the shelter, focusing on the needs of the individual animal based on his or her personality.

Each appointment will be one-hour long this will allow for time to meet with the cat to see if they are a good fit and process the actual adoption should you choose to adopt.
Visitors are recommended to wear face masks, regardless of vaccination status. This includes children age 2+.
Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you are more than 10 minutes late, your appointment will be canceled and youll need to reschedule.

Why Should You Adopt
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.
What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

About Caring For Cats
Caring for Cats, Inc. is an all-volunteer, no-kill shelter and foster network for cats and kittens. Our organization provides a home-like “catmosphere” for 35-40 cats within the shelter. We also have 20-30 cats and kittens living in foster homes throughout the year. Over 90% of our shelter cats and kittens continue to find homes on an annual basis.We are organized for charitable and educational purposes to help cats, and we operate within the meaning of section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 as amended.

Caring for Cats is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in transition to loving homes through education, direct shelter care, and other means.
In an effort to promote these purposes, volunteers are required to follow policies and procedures which support the efficient operation of CFC. These policies and procedures also benefit and protect individual rights while supporting the shelter animals.
Volunteers are required to abide by CFCs Code of Conduct at all times. Adherence to the Code of Conduct is a condition of engagement as a CFC volunteer, and violation of the Code may result in dismissal.
Code of Conduct Expectations
In the interest of both others and the shelter animals, fully commit to the responsibility of your volunteer assignment. This responsibility includes consistently showing up for scheduled shifts and proactively communicating any absences to the shift lead or volunteer coordinator.
Treat all individuals with a sense of dignity, respect, and worth. Make a personal commitment to be nonjudgmental about cultural differences, living conditions, and the life-style of other volunteers and shelter patrons. Agree to cooperative and inclusive behavior with other volunteers, shelter management, and the Board of Directors.
Do not use profane or abusive language, and refrain from disruptive behavior that is dangerous to shelter patrons, other volunteers, shelter management, or members of the Board of Directors.

What Special Programs And Services You Offer Contribute To The Creation Of A No
Animal Ark has developed and implemented a number of highly effective programs over the years to decrease the number of animals entering shelters and increase adoptions. The following are several key programs that we have implemented to contribute to the creation of achieving No Kill in communities throughout Minnesota.
Lost And Found Animals
We all hope our beloved pet never is on the missing list but unfortunately it can and does happen. Someone leaves a door or gate open, the dog runs off when it was only suppose to be doing it’s “business” and so on.
The first thing everyone should have on their pet is an id tag with your current phone number on it. A city license tag or a rabies tag can be next to worthless if an animal is found after hours. Having your pet micro chipped can be beneficial but it is not a guarantee you will get your pet back. As an owner you will need to keep the chip updated with your current phone number. If a pet has a change of owners that will also need to be changed with chip company. Then there is the issue of getting the pet scanned. Keep in mind not all animals brought into a shelter can be scanned due to temperament issues.
If you have lost your pet or found someone else’s pet here is what you should do.
- Contact your local shelters with your information. If you have found a pet contact your local law enforcement to determine if you are in a contracted impound area. If you are the animal control officer will transport animal to HART.
- Putting lost and found information on social media has it’s pros and cons. It may return your pet to you but it also may give the finder all the information about your pet. And they may keep it.
- It is best to bring a found pet to a shelter so the owner can pick it up.

Cocos Heart Dog Rescue
Founded in the memory of Coco the founders best friend she lost as a child. This rescue works though foster families housing dogs until they are adopted. While in the homes they ensure that the dogs receive the best veterinary and home care possible. This is a non breed specific rescue and will works with dogs of any age. They have adoption events in order for people to meet some of their rescues otherwise you apply through their website.

How Does Animal Ark Decide Which Animals To Accept Into Its Shelter
We accept owner surrender animals from across the state of Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin. We receive many inquiries every day from individuals and families who need assistance in rehoming a pet, helping a stray animal in need, and often times in simply resolving a medical or behavioral issue with their pet. We are honored that animal lovers across Minnesota reach out to us for support!
Because of the nature of our relationships with our partner communities it requires we manage our animal intake in a very specific way, which involves accepting animals into our shelter on the basis of need. Owners wishing to surrender canines and felines can call the shelter to discuss their situation and schedule an appointment for an evaluation to determine when and if we can accept their animal owner surrenders are subject to a waiting list and evaluated on a cases by case basis.

No Kitten Left Behind-MN was founded in 2009 by two friends who set out to help a colony of cats near Annandale, MN. Caring for Cats, Inc., a no-kill, all-volunteer cat shelter in North St. Paul, Minnesota and Pets Remembered Pet Cremation Care Center in New Brighton, Minnesota are working together to make the loss of a beloved family pet a little easier.
Through a recently-developed business partnership, pet owners who have had to say goodbye to their beloved cat can now donate food, bedding, medication, or other items to Caring for Cats shelter in memory of their pet. Direct monetary donations may also be made to the shelter to honor the memory of pets. For grieving cat owners, making a positive difference in the lives of shelter cats can go a long way in working through the emotional loss.
There is a definite need for gentle, personal attention to pets that have died, said Carol. For some, a pet may be their best friend. For others, a pet is an integral part of the family. It may be a childs first experience with death. It is important to say good-bye in a meaningful way while embracing the memories of the pet.
