Do You Ever Extend The 75

If an animal is available for at least 60 days or we feel they would be better suited outside of city limits we have extended our adoption radius from 75-miles to 200-miles outside Minneapolis, MN City Center, or possibly further, a distance at the fosters discretion since they will be coordinating the adoption. If you are outside of the 75-mile radius, the guidelines are as follows:

  • Any post-adoption vet care that Pet Haven would cover financially needs to be done with one of our partners in the metro area
  • Any post-adoption continuation of already enrolled behavioral / training that Pet Haven would cover financially needs to be done with one of our partners in the metro area
  • The applicant will need to come to the metro area for an in-person meet and greet with foster parent and dog or cat for dogs, if there is another dog in the applicants home, dog will need to accompany the owner to the meet and greet in the metro area
  • Home visit needs to be completed either by video chat or through another rescue in your area
  • Adopters will need to come to the metro area or a location comfortable for the foster to pick up their new family member if the adoption process is completed/approved.

We are committed to providing post-adoption services that include our health guarantee and behavior counseling. Therefore, we prefer an animals new home to be within reach of our volunteers and veterinary clinics. For this reason, Pet Haven prefers to limit its animal placements to locations within 75 miles of the Twin Cities but we will consider applications up to 200 miles of the Twin Cities. Adopters must be willing to drive to locations in the Twin Cities.

Provide Loving Foster Families To Each Animal

All our animals are in loving foster homes, not in a shelter. Our foster program benefits both the animals in our care and their future families. Our foster families prepare animals for adoption by giving them a chance to live in a home where they can fully express their personality, work to overcome fears, recover from trauma, and receive needed training, giving them a better chance at a forever home.

Continuing To Grow And Helping More Animals In Need

TCPR currently has a network of over 100 foster families and also partners with Chuck & Dons pet retailers which house TCPR foster cats at some of their locations. To further our mission, we provide lifetime support to all animals adopted through our organization.

While the majority of our foster animals come from local impounds and shelters, we intake animals from out-of-state, as well. These animals are typically dogs rescued from reservations and high-kill impounds.

We have grown significantly since founding nearly 8 years ago and we are rescuing animals responsibly so that TCPR will be around to help animals in need for many years to come. The Humane Society of the United States estimates that more than 6 million animals enter impounds and shelters each year, and only half make it out. We dont believe that animals should die just because they are homeless. We are working hard to change that through animal rescue, education and community support. Thank you for supporting us!

Our teams and board are comprised of volunteers dedicating their free time, energy and compassion to these animals.

    Events Coordinators & Volunteers

Our Events Team plans and hosts a number of fundraising and adoption events each month. As an Events volunteer, you will become an ambassador for TCPR. Opportunities include:

Event Coordinators: event planning for fundraisers, community events, and adoption eventsEvent Leads: day-of event point of contact responsible for set-up, tear down, and event oversightEvent Volunteers: day-of event support

Events volunteers should be comfortable communicating with the public and our partners as a representative of TCPR and work well on a team.

Adoption applications are the best way to show you are interested in an animal and are not a contractual obligation. Please submit an adoption application if you are interested in adopting or have questions about an adoptable animal.

We remove animals from the website when they have received a surplus of promising adoption applications or when they are adopted, whichever comes first. About Twin Cities Pet Rescue

Since founding in 2009, Twin Cities Pet Rescue has focused on rescuing animals in critical need specifically, special needs cases and those at risk of being euthanized. Once rescued, all animals stay with loving foster homes, receive optimal veterinary care, high-quality nutrition, and basic training in preparation for adoption. We have rescued and placed more than 4,500 animals with loving forever families since our founding. Thats one life saved for every day of our existence.

    Lost And Found Animals

We all hope our beloved pet never is on the missing list but unfortunately it can and does happen. Someone leaves a door or gate open, the dog runs off when it was only suppose to be doing it’s “business” and so on.

The first thing everyone should have on their pet is an id tag with your current phone number on it. A city license tag or a rabies tag can be next to worthless if an animal is found after hours. Having your pet micro chipped can be beneficial but it is not a guarantee you will get your pet back. As an owner you will need to keep the chip updated with your current phone number. If a pet has a change of owners that will also need to be changed with chip company. Then there is the issue of getting the pet scanned. Keep in mind not all animals brought into a shelter can be scanned due to temperament issues.

If you have lost your pet or found someone else’s pet here is what you should do.

    • Contact your local shelters with your information. If you have found a pet contact your local law enforcement to determine if you are in a contracted impound area. If you are the animal control officer will transport animal to HART.
    • Putting lost and found information on social media has it’s pros and cons. It may return your pet to you but it also may give the finder all the information about your pet. And they may keep it.
    • It is best to bring a found pet to a shelter so the owner can pick it up.

    Why Adopt From Pet Haven

47 cats rescued from hot car at Minnesota rest stop | FOX 9 KMSP

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

From bird watching to sun bathing, outdoor cats may seem like they have it all. But all that stimulation comes with additional stressors and some serious risks. While people who let their cats outside may believe it adds to their kittys quality of life, the truth is, its possible for your cat to live an equally happy life indoors. How To Adopt

Thank you for considering adopting a pet from Twin Cities Pet Rescue. Many animals are in need of loving homes, and youve come to the right place.

But adoption is a big commitment. Cats and dogs may live as long as 20 years. Rescued animals have gone through many transitions, moving from an original home to a shelter, to a foster home, and finally to another new home with you, the adopter. Thats why we hope that the adoptions we make will last forever. For this reason, we consider the adoption process at Twin Cities Pet Rescue like matchmaking. Were committed to finding animals the types of home they need, and finding adopters a furry family member who will be the right fit!

We support animals that we have rescued for their entire lives, so in the event that an adoption does not work out, we welcome them back and ask that they will be returned to Twin Cities Pet Rescue.

Due to the high volume of adoption applications, Twin Cities Pet Rescue only accepts applications for animals that are currently ready for adoption. Dont see an animal that you think would be a good fit for you? Keep an eye on our Adoptable Animal page. New animals are posted regularly! Fostering Is also a great alternative because fosters get first dibs on adopting their foster pet! You can find more information about fostering here.

PLEASE NOTE: Twin Cities Pet Rescue does not adopt to homes further than 60 miles from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro Area.
