The Temperament Of A Norwegian Forest Cat
Wedgies are known for being affectionate and loving companions, thanks to their gentle and calm nature. They love to stay close to their owners, and as they are pretty quiet, youll often turn around to find your kitty right there, simply relaxing in your presence. Therefore, they certainly have an undemanding nature. Still, when you start to pet them, youll immediately notice their eyes light up and will hear an instant purr.
Norwegian Forest cats are a very intelligent breed, and they can have a lot of energy. Therefore, with this feline, youll need to have a bunch of games up your sleeve as they require plenty of playtime. Norwegian Forest Cat Care
Brush or comb the Norwegian Forest Cats long coat once or twice a week, using a bristle brush, wire slicker brush or stainless steel comb. If you run across tangles, work them out gently so you dont hurt the cat. A bath is rarely necessary, which is a good thing. With the Wegies practically waterproof coat, it can be very difficult to get him wet enough for a bath.
Brush the teeth to prevent periodontal disease. Daily dental hygiene is best, but weekly brushing is better than nothing. Wipe the corners of the eyes daily with a soft, damp cloth to remove any discharge. Use a separate area of the cloth for each eye so you dont run the risk of spreading any infection. Check the ears weekly. If they look dirty, wipe them out with a cotton ball or soft damp cloth moistened with a 50-50 mixture of cider vinegar and warm water. Avoid using cotton swabs, which can damage the interior of the ear.
Keep the litter box spotlessly clean. Like all cats, Wegies are very particular about bathroom hygiene. A clean litter box will also help to keep their fur clean.
Temperament
This breed is typically described as friendly, calm, and gentle. Norwegian forest cats are adaptable to different families and lifestyles, and are generally good with children and other animals.

Both DAM Bridget and SIRE Blue Frost are registered pedigreed Norwegian Forest Cats with The Cat Fanciers Association and The International Cat Association . The Norwegian forest cat lineage is thought to date back to the time of the Vikings. Images and written descriptions of cats resembling the Norwegian forest cat exist from early as the 16th century. The breed even plays a major role in a Norwegian fairy tale about the Norse goddess Freya, who used two huge forest cats to pull her chariot.
The first Norwegian forest cats were imported into the United States in 1979. The Norwegian forest cat was accepted for championship status by The International Cat Association in 1984. The Cat Fanciers Association accepted the Norwegian forest cat for full championship status in 1993.

We are breeders of Norwegian Forest Kittens, based in Dumfriesshire, Scotland, UK.
We own, exhibit & breed the Norwegian Forest Cat & Kittens under the auspices of the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy and the world renowned FIFe since 2004.
We are now in our 18th year of preserving the Norwegian Forest Cat, having bred Pyrnean Mountain Dogs, shown and worked Labrador Retrievers and worked our Dairy farm prior to this. Maintaining good animal health and welfare is paramount to us.
We are passionate about ensuring that we preserve the traditional look & the old bloodlines of the Norwegian Forest Cat.
Our bloodlines are some of the oldest and rarest in the world, being closest to the original bloodlines being bred in the 1970’s
