Do You Need A Boarding Facility For Your Cat
Vacation time can pose a bit of a challenge if you have a cat. Leaving your cat at home isnt always an option. Yet if you arent sure if shell be happy in a cat boarding facility, it can be difficult to know what to do. At Holiday Pet Hotel in Encinitas, we know exactly how you feel. Were here to take the stress of catty care off your shoulders so you can enjoy your vacation to the fullest. At Holiday Pet Hotel, you can have confidence that your cat will be in the best of hands.
Although cat sitting has its advantages, your cat will miss out on the love and attention shes used to. Having someone stop by from time to time to feed, water, and change your cats litter box isnt quite the same as full time care. If your sitter is careless, your cat could even escape and get lost or suffer an accident.
In contrast, cat boarding puts your cat in a safe, comfy environment where she can be cared for by experienced caregivers who share your love for cats. Your cat will have personal attention, fresh, healthy food, opportunities to socialize and make friends and a safe, comfortable environment in which to snooze, exercise, and play.
In the event of a medical emergency, your pet will receive prompt, professional care from veterinary experts in their field. If your pet is taking medications, boarding staff will ensure she receives her medications on time and on schedule.

Dogs need proof of Distemper, Parvo, and Bordetella annually and Rabies every 1-3 years. Puppies must be ten days past their final round of distemper/parvo vaccination before kennels will accept them for boarding. Vaccinations need to be given no less than seven days before boarding. If this is the dog’s first Bordetella vaccination, it must be given two weeks before boarding.
How Long Before Boarding Does Dog Need a Bordetella Shot?
In general, puppies can receive injectable Bordetella vaccines between 6 and 8 weeks of age and booster shots when they’re 10 to 12 weeks old. Dog Boarding And Training Cost
Dog boarding and training is sort of like sending your dog to a boarding school, and the dog boarding rates are approx. $1,600 for a four-week block, or $500 to $1,000 per week. Dogs learn how to perform basic obedience tasks like walking without pulling, and the commands sit, stay, come, drop, etc.
Hospital & Vet Boarding Costs
Dog boarding rates at a hospital or animal clinic dont seem to be much different to boarding a dog anywhere else, costing about $35 to $45 a night if the dog has no medical problems, and $39 to $55 if s/he has medical issues or needs to be isolated because of behavioral issues.
Many animal hospitals, infirmaries, and veterinarians will offer boarding services as well, though the price can tend to be a bit higher since that same space could be used for a sick pet. However, many dog owners feel more comfortable keeping their dog under the supervision of trained, experienced animal hospital or veterinary clinic staff.

Dog Boarding Cost Per Day
The average cost to board a dog by day is $18 to $29, or about $15 for a 4-hour half-day. You drop your dog off in the morning, and he gets to play with other dogs his size, with a quiet time in his own kennel over the lunch period. You pick him up after workusually before 6 p.m., or youll be charged an additional fee for every five minutes you are late. If you dont show up on time, some places will lock the doors at 6 and then charge you for having to board your dog for the night.
What To Do With A Pet While Youre On A Long Trip
Here are suggestions for finding pet sitters.
Ask your veterinarian.
Check out pet trainers and dog-training schools to see if they have recommendations. Ask pet groomers and at pet stores.
Ask friends and friends of friends. Look for retirees. Ask family members or church members if they can recommend anyone.
My husband, Bob, and I have traveled for more than 30 years and have owned dogs all that time. Never once have we boarded or kenneled a dog. I cannot emphasize this strongly enough: people should not board or kennel their dogs.
They also should not fly with their dogs. I shudder when I think of it.
Once you have one or more pet sitter candidates, check them out by going away nearby for two days or so. Call in or message to check up.
Lastly, the person who asked about boarding pets said he was going to be away for two months. Thats a LONG time to be away.
I feel that boarding pets is the best way to go when you want to travel, but finding a good kennel is difficult.
I have been lucky to board my border collies at Woodside Kennels . The kennel was built with advice from veterinaries. It has indoor and outdoor runs and is cleaned every day, and staff will exercise and bathe your dog, if you wish.
I would not leave my dogs with friends, nor would I leave them alone in the house with someone coming in only occasionally to feed them. A good boarding kennel is worth every cent.

Extended Pet Stay Available
Our hospital offers cat and dog boarding you can trust. It is sometimes difficult to find a boarding facility that will tend to the needs of your pet and give them the attention they deserve.Boarding at our facility is ideal, especially if your pet has certain conditions that require medication. There will be a veterinarian and technicians to monitor your pet closely and manage any problems that may arise. Our boarding facilities are sterilized between boarders and a rigorous cleaning schedule is followed daily. We recommend that you bring your pet’s food and any special bedding or toys with them to make the boarding experience as stress-free as possible. You may call in daily to check on your pet and a member of our staff will be happy to speak with you. There may be an opportunity for your pet to have additional amenities. Please ask our staff about these extras and associated costs. In addition to short-term boarding, we may offer options for extended stay. Please ask our staff if you require these accommodations.
How Much Does Petsmart Charge For Boarding
You have to call to get the actual price on your area, but PetSmart dog boarding rates run to $30 to $55 per night dependent upon room type and the factors mentioned above, and they often offer discounts such as one night free if you need a multi-night stay. However, be sure to check online reviews for this service.

Do You Have Doubts About Boarding Your Cat Lets Dispel Them
Many cat owners believe that their cats are better off at home instead of a boarding facility, since felines are incredibly territorial. However, despite every last effort to ensure their safety and wellbeing, accidental injury or sudden illness can happen while youre out of town. Sure, a friend, relative, or neighbor might pop in for daily meals, litter box duties, and attention, but unless your cat is being closely monitored in your absence, calamity can occur. Boarding your cat with us is the best solution!
How Do I Prepare My Dog For Boarding
When preparing to take your dog to the kennel, remember to:
- Be up to date on their vaccinations. Vaccinations need to be given no less than seven days before boarding.
- Write a list of any special instructions you may have for your kennel regarding feeding times, portions for food, medical needs, your local vet’s phone number, and where you can be reached.
- Bag up each serving size of your dogs food and label it with your dogs name for the length of their stay.
- Pack your dog’s leashes.
- Make sure your dog has a name tag.
- Label medications with your dogs name.
- Drop your dog off in the morning so s/he can become accustomed to the other dogs boarding with him.
- Don’t forget to pack your dog’s favorite toys. An old t-shirt that smells like you can also make for a great cuddle toy!
