Our staff is very involved in our community with the schools, teaching their animal care classes and working at the local vaccine clinics. We have worked with Guide Dogs of America and Guide Dogs of the Desert for many years, even raising and training a guide dog puppy! Dr. Marienthal-Skaar is a founding member of the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Jan Levitt is originally from San Diego. She graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in Zoology.

In 1984 she obtained her Masters in Animal Science from U.C. Davis.In 1988, she graduated from U.C. Davis with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

She has practiced at Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group, Arden Animal Hospital, and Ave 26 Small Animal Hospital.

She began practicing at Media City Animal Hospital in 2001 when it was Magnolia Veterinary Clinic. She has special interest and skills in surgery and dental procedures.

She has run the Burbank Pet Plaza low cost vaccine clinic for over 10 years, every other Wednesday from 5-7 pm.

Dr. Levitt has been married for 35 years and has 3 children who all grew up and went to public schools in Burbank. Her hobbies are bowling, dancing, gardening, playing games, and book club. She has a cat, named Lilo, and 3 dogs: Buddy, a shihtzu/poodle, Henry, a poodle, and Sasha a black lab. All of them were rescues. Recently she became a Grandma and has decided to cut back on work to spend more time with her family!

The Hospital is small, but has everything necessary to practice excellent medicine and excellent surgery . There is also a fully equipped dental suite with up to date dental x ray, drills, and scaling and polishing equipment.

She is excited to begin working with Dr. Skaar to bring quality, affordable care to your dogs and cats!

I was happy with the attentiveness the people at the Toluca Burbannk Dog & Cat Hospital gave to my pets. I’ve brought both my dogs and my cat there for various reasons and I’ve been happy with their care. If not, I wouldn’t go back.

Wellness and Preventive Medicine

We recommend annual wellness exams for adult dogs and cats between one and seven years old. Puppies, kittens, and senior pets should have more frequent examinations. At each check-up, we record your pets weight and temperature, ask about eating habits and exercise, and discuss parasite control. Our veterinarians also check for specific health issues.
