“Sarah loves to fly. She’s always lifting up with her mop and can’t wait to get up in the air, whereas Mary is more cautious. Like a good driver, she signals with her hand. Mary is the safe and steady flier,” she added.
Perception Of The Black Cat Species
The perceptions of cats in general have changed a lot over the years.
Back in Ancient Egypt, cats were worshipped because they were seen to be linked to the goddess Bastet. This goddess was often depicted with a catâs head and was said to protect the home.
This celebration clashes with ideas from Western culture. During the Middle Ages, the black cat species was seen as being evil.
Black cats were said to be heavily linked to witches. Black cats would watch over young witches and âcunning folkâ while they practiced dark magic and grew their skill. Once the Puritans settled in the New World, women who kept black cats had to watch out for being accused of witchcraft.
This has all changed today, but the superstitions remain.

Magical Cats Bring Good Fortune
Cats, especially black cats, have long been associated with magic and witchcraft. Their ability to walk silently, their tendency to remain wild and yet gentle with their humans and the difficulty in controlling them, as compared with dogs, has bestowed upon them a magical mystic.
Cats were sacred in Ancient Egypt, and are considered lucky household spirits in Japanese lore. During the 1600s, in Great Britain, it was tradition for visitors to kiss the family cat upon their arrival, to ensure a pleasant visit. To this day, in many cultures, to do ill to a cat can only bring bad luck, loss of love, or worse, death.
If you have a new cat, finding the appropriate name is the first rite to cat ownership. To celebrate your new lucky talisman, consider these magical cat names from witchcraft, history, literature, and the magician’s closet.

The Children In The Town Are Evidently Pretty Independent
The morning after Halloween, when the children are seen walking in the streets in a trance during Sarah Sanderson’s song, they’re all wearing coordinated pajama sets, complete with robes and slippers.
It is the wee hours of the morning, so kids wearing pajamas may just seem like a given.
However, Winifred cursed all the adults at the party to “dance until die,” so most of their parents probably wouldn’t have been around to make the kids change out of their costumes and get ready for bed.
This also seems to explain why some of the children are still wearing parts of their Halloween costumes like masks and crowns even though they’re coming from their beds.
Do You Notice That Fountain
After Max, Dani, and Allison lock the Sanderson sisters in the high school’s heater, they all run out to the front yard and cheer in happiness. However, while Dani and Allison are dancing and doing cartwheels, there’s one very important piece of TV history in the background: the fountain from Friends! Although it’s just a simple fountain that was used in the Friends introduction, it’s one of those monumental items that Friends fans buy on memorabilia. The fountain itself is found on a Warner Bros. lot, not New York City like so many Friends fans believe.

The Original Hocus Pocus Not Only Had A Different Name But Was Much Darker
Who knew there was a much darker side to the iconic Halloween movie Hocus Pocus?
If youre a super fan, then you may know some of the following information. However, this is new news to most people.
The film was originally titled Halloween House when first written in the 1980s according to EW, screenwriter Mick Garris.
David Kirschner, who An American Tail for Steven Spielberg, had this great idea about children in Salem, Massachusetts, coming up against the three Sanderson sisters, who were resurrected from the Salem of 1692, and hed sold it to Disney.
What I had written originally was about 12-year-olds, Garris says. The kids being younger and in more jeopardy was certainly something more explicitly frightening. By the time the film made it to screens in 1993, it was, as Garris described it, broadly comedic. Of note: The scene with Garry and Penny Marshall wasnt in the first draft, but the scene where Billy Butcherson loses his head was.

Old Burial Hill Is An Actual Graveyard In Massachusetts
“Hocus Pocus” viewers likely remember that the movie took place in Salem. But there are several location-specific touches that fans may not have noticed.
For example, the gate of the cemetery where Billy comes back to life reads “Old Burial Hill,” which is an actual graveyard in Marblehead, Massachusetts, a short drive from Salem.

Did The Sanderson Sisters Really Exist
The Sanderson Sisters were three witches who lived during the Witch Hunt Era in Salem, Massachusetts and were hanged on All Hallows Eve of 1693. Winifreds two sisters Mary & Sarah Sanderson are not shown to have the same mental capacities or finesse as Winifred, but possess formidable skills in their own right.
He Looks Like A Puppet Sometimes
There are some clear moments in Hocus Pocus where Binx the cat definitely doesn’t look like a cat, but more akin to the animatronic version of Salem the cat in the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch TV series. It’s pretty inconsistent in the movie, especially since real cats were also used to portray Binx, which makes the puppet-y moments extra glaring.
Given the strides of modern technology, if Binx or any other kind of creature is featured in the sequel to the film, he’ll surely look more polished and integrated with any real creatures, if any, used in the movie.

Is Mcgees Wife On Ncis Really In A Wheelchair
And the answer to this question is No, she is not paralysed in real life. Margo only uses the wheelchair as a prop to support the storyline of her character who became paralysed in Season 11. Delilah lost her ability to walk and landed upon a wheelchair after she was attending a gala that was attacked by a terrorist.
The Ncis Star You Forgot Was In Hocus Pocus
When we first started hearing rumors about a sequel for the cult Halloween film, many fans brushed off the idea as a bunch of “hocus pocus.” Surely, the hugely successful leads of “Hocus Pocus” Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy would be far too busy to dust off the old cloak? While Midler expressed her interest in rising from the dead during a Reddit AMA in 2014, she scared the bejeezus out of us with a , which confirmed the Sanderson sisters were coming back.
Midler wrote in May: “Sistaaaahs! It’s been 300 years… But we’re BACK! #HocusPocus2 arrives Fall 2022 on @DisneyPlus.” That’s 300 years too long if you ask us, but alas the news got fans in a tizzy particularly as the original witchy trio all signed on. While details on the sequel have been sparse, the official description says it will focus on three young women who “accidentally bring the Sanderson sisters back to modern-day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on the world,” per TV Line.
While it’s unclear at this stage whether other OG “Hocus Pocus” actors will be making an appearance, Doug Jones said, “I’m just going to keep my knees bent and be ready in case they call,” per Digital Spy. A big name in “NCIS” also previously expressed interest in reprising his role which we hope comes true given said his character makes “Hocus Pocus” truly “shine.”

Jason Marsden As Thackery The Cat
If the name itself doesnt ring a bell, perhaps the title A Goofy Movie will get the gears rolling. Voice actor Jason Marsden might not be known for having his face in front of a camera, but his voice behind a mic has been with many of us throughout our childhoods.
Voicing for Max in A Goofy Movie, Haku in Spirited Away, Kovu in The Lion King 2: Simbas Pride, Mungo in Tarzan and Chester in Fairly OddParents, Jason Marsden naturally boyish vocals made him a fun and memorable choice for the Hocus Pocus cast, voicing the cat version of Thackery.
Unfortunately, since the end of the first Hous Pocus film meant Thackery joining his sister in death, its certain that our beloved black feline Binx wont be featured in the storys sequel. But it doesnt mean the filmmakers wont find some new Halloween animal for Marsden to lend his voice to. We shall wait and see!

- Salem Saberhagen: Salem is sure to be on anyoneâs list of famous black cats. Named to evoke an American heritage of witchcraft, Salem is a wisecracking black cat who both helps and hinders Sabrina the Teenage Witch, a witch in training. Salem is serving out a 100-year sentence as a black cat for trying to take over the world.
- Isis: Isis appeared in the form of a black cat on the original series of Star Trek. She was a shapeshifter with plans to detonate a nuclear device on Earth. The name Isis is apt here since Isis was also the Egyptian goddess believed to help people enter the afterlife.
That Spider Looked Too Authentic
When the Sanderson sisters are brought back from the dead, Winifred creates a plan of attack in order to live forever while being their most beautiful selves. Sadly for Winifred, Mary and Sarah are in their own little universe and find it hard to pay attention. Sarah leans down and picks up a spider and munches on it while Winifred was speaking. And while most horror movies use props instead of the real thing, Sarah Jessica Parker actually did eat the spider! A small detail like this in the book is one thing but when it comes to the movies, SJP apparently went big instead of going home!
