What Did We Think Of Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza

How to Play Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza

I cannot tell you how much fun Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is to play!

Its highly addictive and very competitive. You definitely have to watch out for some hard slapping, that is often not intentional and down to excitement particularly as the game tension starts to build! And although the rules of play are super simple it is very easy to make a mistake!

Its small size, both in packaging and play, makes it super portable and could be played pretty much anywhere, so definitely one to keep in the travel bag.

And, even though the rules say only 12 cards to be dealt for 2,3,4, or 5 player games we dealt the whole pack out, no matter how many people were playing, and it doesnt hinder play.

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, is a high energy, addictive, little box of fun that will appeal to everyone and leave you all in stitches. It really should be a must have card game for everyone!

My Thoughts On Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza

I have to say that I had some mixed feelings heading into playing Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. This genre of card slapping games have been around for a long time. After playing Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza I have to say that the game doesnt really do anything to differentiate itself from the rest of the games from this genre. The basic premise of the game is really simple. Players take turns playing one of the cards from their hand to the table and saying the next word in the games title. If the card they play matches the word said by the player, all of the players race to slap the cards. The last player to slap the pile has to take all of the cards. Every so often a special card will be revealed that forces players to perform another action before slapping the cards. The first player to get rid of all of their cards and be the first to slap the pile wins.

The one area where Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza differentiates itself is the addition of the special cards. When one of these special cards are drawn players are forced to do a simple animal action which is pretty silly. I will admit that players are likely going to have pretty differing opinions on these cards. I personally found these actions to be really silly and kind of stupid. I thought they just distracted from the rest of the game. I am not surprised by this though as I have never been a big fan of games that force players to perform silly actions.

Setting Up Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza

Have all players around one another. Allot space in the middle of the table and this is where your discard pile will be.

âð½ Tip: make sure that everyone has an equal distance to the discard pile. This is just to make sure that Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is played fairly.

The dealer now should start shuffling the deck, then distribute all the cards equally, among all players. Note that the cards should be facing down the whole time.

As soon as everyone is ready with their deck of cards in front of them, the game can begin. The person to the left of the dealer begins.

  • While they are putting the card in, they say TACO and flip the card to see the picture as they are placing it into the center. Everyone should see the card picture at the same time, so we have our kids say the word first & then flip the card while placing it into the center of the table.
  • The next player goes . They put their face-up card on top of the last players card while saying CAT
  • You continue in this way, while the players take turns saying Taco, Cat,Goat, Cheese, Pizza, Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza, etc) until the following happens:
  • The card just laid matches the card spoken by the player
  • When this happens, you slap a match All players must SLAP their hands onto the top of the pile of cards in the center.
  • The last player to slap the pile of cards has to take the entire pile into their hand. The player collects the cards & put them at the bottom of their pile.

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza Review

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is a fast paced, card based, party game published by Blue Orange Games. Designed by Dave Campbell, the game sees 2 8 players flipping cards that feature tacos, cats, goats, cheese or pizza. With a few extras they arenât all named on the box, with players needing to have quick reflexes to win cards. However, who is this oddly named game aimed at? Letâs find out!

In Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza players are attempting to get rid of all of their cards. If playing with 6 or more players this is an even split of the 64 card deck, otherwise each player is dealt 12 cards. Each player sits around the table with their pile of cards face down in front of themselves. One player starts the game by flipping their top card into a central face up pile from their draw pile and says âTacoâ. The next player then repeats this process: flipping the top card from their own draw pile onto the central pile, instead saying âCatâ.

This process is followed by the subsequent players saying âGoatâ, âCheeseâ, âPizzaâ, then back to the top with âTacoâ. This continues until one of two things occurs. If the card flipped over matches the word said then all players must slap their hand onto the central pile. When this happens the slowest player, whomever is last, gains all of the cards putting them on the bottom of their personal draw pile.

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza Review Not You Average Game Of Snap

Back in the day, one popular card game that dominated the playgrounds was Snap. Fast forward a few years and this simple concept has evolved into various modern and more intricate versions that tend to lack the simplistic joy one gets from playing the original. Enter Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, a wild game of quick action reminiscent of the classic card game we all played and loved as kids.

One day, I received an email from Dave at Dolphin Hat Games. He introduced us to the card game, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza! We were invited to partner with Dolphin Games for this post, try out the game, and share what we think.

Fast forward a few days. I brought the cards out & had them on our kitchen counter when our two older boys came downstairs. Apparently, I was the only one out of the whats cool loop, because they knew all about the card game & they were thrilled!

Up to eight people can participate in a game of Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza.

Each player is given 12 cards from a shuffled pack no peaking allowed.

Each person then takes a turn placing the top card of their deck face up in the middle of the play area.

While doing this, players have to say the five magic words, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. The first player would place a card and say Taco, the second player would place their card and say Cat, and so it continues.

Should the card that is placed face up correspond to the word spoken by the player placing the card, all players need to slam their hands down on the centre pile.

The last player to slam down their hand on the pile needs to take the whole pile of cards and start the new round by saying Taco.

As you can probably guess, the player who runs out of cards first is the winner.

âï¸Special rule #1: When a player takes a card from the deck, it should be done outwards .

Just remember the sequence of the words: Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, and Pizza. This will not change throughout the game. It should be said in this order.

âï¸Special rule #2: The game should have a steady pace. Once a player hesitates on the word to say or forgets that itâs their turn, they have to get all of the cards currently at the discard pile and put it at the bottom of their deck.

Once the word said and the card that was recently discarded matches, everyone has to slap the pile. The last person to slap has to get all of the cards in the discard pile and put it in their own deck.

The new round begins with that player starting off again with âTacoâ.

âï¸Special rule #3: No hesitation. If a player shows any sign of an attempt to slap the pile even when theyâre not supposed to, they also have to take all of the cards in the discard pile and put it in their own deck.

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is a fun, easy, and face paced family game that can be played at the most random of times. It allows for easy setup, as the deck of cards and instructions are all the necessities.

Ever thought of what these five words have in common? Nothing! Except those are all the words you will yell loudly while playing this frustratingly fun card game!

Should You Buy Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza

Ultimately Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza is a pretty average game. The game is really simple to play as you basically just slap the cards when the card that the player plays matches the word that they say out loud. The game can be learned in a minute or two and it will normally play pretty quickly. It is pretty obvious that the game was built in order to appeal to children. From the cute artwork to silly actions that you have to perform I think younger children will enjoy the game. The problem is that the game doesnt really do anything particularly original. There have been many other games that have utilized a similar premise and Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza doesnt really do anything to differentiate itself. I have played a few other games with a similar premise and I personally enjoyed them more than Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. In particular I thought Avocado Smash was a better game.

My recommendation for Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza depends on your opinion of slapping games and silly game mechanics. If you hate slapping games or already own another similar game from the genre I see no reason to pick up Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. Those that want a silly and simple to play game that should appeal to younger children will probably enjoy the game and should consider picking it up.
