While most people have heard of puppy mills, kitten mills are equally insidious and common. As bans and awareness grow for puppy mills, mill breeders turned to cats and small animals as a means of producing high volumes of animals to turn a quick profit.
Like puppy mills, cat or kitten mills keep animals in horrendous conditions, often with extreme temperatures, poor bedding, and inadequate ventilation. This can lead to impaired emotional and mental development, skin and fur conditions, and chronic illnesses. Greenhill Humane Society has been caring for animals in Lane County since 1944. We operate the only animal shelter within the Eugene/Springfield area.
