Humane Society of Tampa Bay saves feral cats by putting them to work

We do not have a shelter, we are a network of volunteer foster homes and there are 2 ways you can meet the wonderful dogs we have who are looking for homes. We generally have dog adoption events at the adoption center in Fridley from 12:00pm CST to 5:00pm every Sunday. However, our schedule will sometimes vary, so please check our website at www.tailsrescue.org to confirm that the dog you are interested is still available. Dogs in attendance will vary on foster family availability. You can check our facebook page prior to the event to see who may be there to meet you. Many of our cats stay at the Richfield Petsmart and are available for showing anytime that Petsmart is open. Our wonderful friends at the Richfield Petsmart will be happy to assist you with the adoption process. Our dogs and cats are also available for private showing. Please call us at 612-588-0188 to confirm our adoption event schedule or to arrange a private showing.

Provide Loving Foster Families To Each Animal

All our animals are in loving foster homes, not in a shelter. Our foster program benefits both the animals in our care and their future families. Our foster families prepare animals for adoption by giving them a chance to live in a home where they can fully express their personality, work to overcome fears, recover from trauma, and receive needed training, giving them a better chance at a forever home.

    Why Should You Adopt

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

You And Your Dog Can Change Lives Together

Join us Friday, September 16, for Whisker Whirl 2022

After a community member found Frisky, a sweet orange kitten, with injuries, our team did everything we could to help. “Our job is to create the best outcome for every animal and it’s something we take seriously,” said Dr. Sara Lewis, Managing Shelter Veterinarian. Sometimes, though, the best choice we can make for an animal is to say goodbye.

Every wound thats healed, every tail that wags, every purr and nuzzle thats given its all because of animal lovers like you. Youve changed thousands of lives this summer but there are still more animals in our shelters who are counting on your support. Will you show these dogs, cats, and critters you still believe in their second chances? Make a gift today and help us continue to care for the animals who need us most.

From bird watching to sun bathing, outdoor cats may seem like they have it all. But all that stimulation comes with additional stressors and some serious risks. While people who let their cats outside may believe it adds to their kittys quality of life, the truth is, its possible for your cat to live an equally happy life indoors. Hear from AHS experts on giving cats access to the outdoors, plus tips for providing indoor enrichment.
