Arm And Hammer Platinum Slide Cat Litter

Arm & Hammer Platinum Double Duty Cat Litter

Review of Arm and Hammer’s Slide cat litter

Platinum Double Duty is infused with baking soda, which helps it tame noxious odors. It can handle urine and feces odors equally well, so your home shouldnt stink every time your cat does their business.

The baking soda is moisture-activated, ensuring that the litter wont have an overwhelming smell just sitting in the box. It still springs into action once it comes in contact with pee, though.

Since it does such a good job of neutralizing odors, its great for multi-cat households. Its also a good choice for users who cant get around to cleaning the box as often as theyd like.

While its great at stopping smells, its clumping abilities leave something to be desired. The clumps tend to disintegrate as you scoop them .

Its also dusty, especially when poured, so keep a broom and dustpan handy.

If odor control is your main concern, wed recommend buying a box of Platinum Double Duty. However, its limitations as an all-around litter prevent us from ranking it any higher on this list.

Multi-Cat Clumping offers extra-strength odor control at a budget-friendly price, making it a solid choice for anyone trying to keep up with several kittens without going broke in the process.

Its a low-dust formula, so the area around the box should stay fairly clean. However, the reason its low-dust is that its extremely heavy. Your cat may have a bit more of an issue digging through this than similar litters.

Odor Elimination: No Bad Smells

Right out of the box, the cat litter had a subtle, bathroom-like citrus fragrance. This surprised us, as the packaging doesnt mention it being scented. We usually prefer unscented litters, but fortunately the smell wasnt strong enough to overwhelm our space, and once we poured it in the litter box, we didnt smell it again.

Even when we were scooping, we didnt smell any unpleasant aromas.

In fact, we didnt smell anythingeven though we knew Mila had been in and out of the litter box plenty of times. At the end of our first week using Arm & Hammer, we confirmed that the brand lived up to its seven-day odor-free guarantee. Even when we were scooping, we didnt smell any unpleasant aromas. We know that sounds implausible, but the litter was really that good!

What Do Customers Think Of Arm & Hammer Cat Litter

For the most part, customers are happy with the Arm & Hammer brand as a whole. Many customers have a favorite formula that they are completely loyal to, though they will try others if theirs is not immediately available. Most customers are pleased with the low price point, the hard-clumping action, and the excellent odor control this cat litter has to offer.

This being said, every customers experience is unique, and there are both good and bad reviews for the brand online. Keep reading to see a positive and negative customer review for each of the three cat litter formulas featured above:

Price: A Bit Overpriced

Cat litter prices seem to vary widely by the type, size, and location you purchase from. While we bought the 27.5-pound litter for roughly $30, you can buy a 28-pound box of the non Platinum version for less than $20, or a 14-pound box for less than $10. Based on the litters clumping performance and the fact that you get more pounds per dollar from other brands, we think Arm & Hammers offering is a little overpriced.

What Slide Did For Me

Arm Hammer Platinum SLIDE Easy Clean

So I emptied the old litter and poured in the Slide and waited.

  • The first thing I noticed was no dust! It came out just like sand with no dust choking out my lungs.
  • The second thing to note was the scent. There are no flowery feel-good smells going on here, but on the second day of use, I noticed its odor-neutralizing power. Normally, I could smell the cat box from the top of the steps, but with Slide, I don’t smell it until I’m right up on it.
  • Another benefit of this litter is that the cats don’t spread it as far as they climb in and out. The litter does not stick to their paws and leave a trail from the box up the stairs as other litters do.

For one week, I scooped the top clumps without scraping the bottom to see if indeed it was the number one no-clump litter. It is! The litter does not clump very much at all and it was easy to clean out of the box.

How Much Does Arm & Hammer Cat Litter Cost

Overall, Arm & Hammer cat litter is very affordable for the quality it delivers. The two cat litters weve reviewed above are priced below $0.75 per pound and you can save more by purchasing larger boxes. The litter box deodorizer costs about $1.144 per pound but is sold in a 20- or 30-ounce box for under $3.

Overall Is Arm & Hammer Cat Litter A Good Choice

At first glance, we werent sure that we were going to like Arm & Hammer cat litter. Despite the affordable price, were used to seeing this brand sold in big box stores and grocery stores where quality isnt always the priority. We were pleasantly surprised, however, after testing two cat litters and one litter deodorizer that the brand keeps to its promises as a whole when it comes to long-lasting odor control, hard-clumping action, and low dust and tracking.

Again, the main thing we noticed about Arm & Hammer cat litter is the sandy texture. This is not necessarily a problem, but it may take getting used to for some cats. This texture also means that clumps sometimes break up into tiny rocks, but they are easily scooped away, and you generally arent left with a gluey mess at the bottom of the litter box.

For affordable odor control, we heartily recommend Arm & Hammer cat litter. We look forward to reviewing some of their other products in the future, including some of their natural cat litters.

Arm & Hammer Super Scoop Cat Litter

If you have a sensitive nose, you might want to try Super Scoop, as its a fragrance-free option thats perfect for discriminating olfactory glands. That also reduces the risk that the smell might overpower your cat and discourage her from using it.

You might find yourself wishing it had a bit of perfume in it, though, as it does little to stop odors and ammonia odors are especially bad. This is not a litter you can use without a deodorizer.

It doesnt clump that well, either. The messes are sprawling and sticky, and you may need a shovel instead of a scoop to get them out and if urine reaches the sides or bottom of your box, youre going to have a gross disaster on your hands.

As a result, youll have to change the entire box frequently. While this is an inexpensive option, it still adds up quickly if youre throwing out an entire pan because the messes became overwhelming.

Super Scoop is one of Arm & Hammers most basic litters, and given the fact that they have several options that have improved on this formula, we have a hard time recommending it here.

  • Does little to stop odors
  • Doesnt clump that well
  • Gets extremely sticky when wet
  • Hard to clean if it reaches sides or bottom of box

Arm & Hammer Naturals Scented Corn Cat Litter

Arm & Hammer Slide Easy Clean-Up Clumping Kitty Litter Review

If youre an eco-conscious cat owner, you may have been curious about experimenting with corn litter. Arm & Hammers Naturals Corn is the companys attempt at this type of product.

Many users like it because its biodegradable, and you can flush it or toss it in a composter rather than sending it to the landfill in a bag. Its also extremely lightweight and low-dust, giving it several advantages over traditional litters.

Unfortunately, it doesnt clump as well, especially when it comes to sealing in urine. Instead of one tight, manageable ball, youll get tiny little crumbles. This makes it extremely difficult to completely remove waste, which is unsanitary.

As those bits of leftover waste accumulate, they will start to overwhelm the corns ability to neutralize odors. Youll either need to add a ton of deodorizer or start over with a fresh batch of litter, and this stuff isnt cheap.

Not all cats will use it, either, especially if theyre accustomed to the traditional stuff. It seems to be an issue with the texture, and if your feline friend doesnt like it, theres little you can do to change their mind.

Were always fans of protecting the environment, and Naturals Corn is one of the best litters on the market for that purpose. Its simply not as good as its rivals, though, so you may have to pick between protecting the planet or your cat.

  • Leftover waste accumulates to cause odors
  • Not all cats will use it

Who Makes Arm & Hammer Cat Litter And Where Is It Produced

Arm & Hammer cat litter is one of the best-known cat litter brands. Arm & Hammer products have been produced since 1846, when its baking soda first hit the market. Its now owned by the parent company, Church & Dwight. Arm & Hammer cat litter is made in the U.S.A., using ingredients from both the U.S.A. and abroad.

Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Platinum Cat Litter Vs Purina Tidy Cats Lightweight Clumping Cat Litter

We were impressed with how both the Arm & Hammer and Purina Tidy Cats litter eliminated odors and didnt produce dust. Purinas offering did clump much better than Arm & Hammers, but we also found our cat tracked it everywhere due to the larger granules. Another major difference is the scent. Arm & Hammer isnt scented, exactly, but it does have a slight citrus fragrance. The Purina Tidy Cats litter we tested was specifically made with a Glade scent. As mentioned, we prefer an unscented litter, so in this regard we prefer Arm & Hammer.

Both litters vary when it comes to price , but in general they are comparable on cost. Purina Tidy Cats is really lightweight, so even though you only receive 17 pounds in a pail, the volume of cat litter is comparable to the amount of litter that comes in Arm & Hammers 28-pound box.

Worth the purchase.

If this cat litter clumped together even slightly more, itd be perfect. But besides that one caveat, its still pretty good. The Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Platinum Cat Litter kept our home free of smelly odors, and we were even happier to find that our cat didnt track it all over the house. It can be pricey depending on where you purchase it from, so just make sure you compare retailers before you buy.

Which Types Of Pets Might Do Better With A Different Brand

Most Arm & Hammers cat litters are clay-based. Sometimes, these can cause respiratory problems for both cats and humans, due to the fact that clay can be dusty. For that reason, some cats prefer a dust-free, biodegradable litter, like the Worlds Best Unscented Clumping Corn Cat Litter.

Its worth noting that Arm & Hammer does now offer a natural corn-based litter thats free from clay.

Clumping Ability: Clumps That Crumble

Arm & Hammer Slide Clumping Cat Litter, Multi Cat, 14 lb

Arm & Hammer Platinum promises rock hard clumps. With that pledge in mind, we were expecting exceptional clumping ability. Maybe we set our expectations too high, but we werent impressed with how it clumped.

Just to clarify, it wasnt overly difficult to scoop and the cat urine did, generally, clump together, but it crumbled immediately upon scooping. Because Mila prefers to use one corner of her litter box, we also found that rather than turning into individual lumps, the Arm & Hammer litter created one large clump that was impossible to scoop out in one go.

Maybe we set our expectations too high, but we werent impressed with how it clumped.

Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Lightweight Cat Litter

Clump & Seal Lightweight is a lighter version of our number-one pick, but in cutting down on the weight, they also lost some of what made the regular litter so special.

It uses tiny microgranules to clump, rather than heavy bits of sand or clay. This makes it easy for your cat to dig through the litter , but it doesnt quite seal in odors as well.

The problem is that you can contain messes with just a light dusting of this stuff, but thats not enough to keep the smell from escaping. However, since the stickiness is contained, its next to impossible to get enough litter on a mess to neutralize odors.

However, you can get the same amount of litter in a much smaller box, making this easier to carry and pour. Thats great for users with mobility issues or those who dont like having to lug around a 40-pound box of clay.

Its also not heavy enough to fall off your cats paws after theyre finished doing their business. As a result, it tracks horribly.

We respect what Arm & Hammer was trying to do with their Clump & Seal Lightweight formula, and with a few tweaks, we could easily see this becoming our favorite litter in a few years. As it stands now, though, its not quite good enough to crack the top five of this list.

  • Granules fly everywhere as cat digs

Arm & Hammer Slide Multi

Slide Multi-Cat is designed to come out of the box with minimal effort, so if you get frustrated by stuck-on clumps on the bottom and sides of the pan, this might be the litter for you.

This makes cleaning the box out much easier than it would normally be, so hopefully, it will stop being a chore you dread to do. It can also save you money, as theres less wasted litter, but this stuff is inexpensive enough that its not much of an issue .

It works well in self-cleaning boxes as well. Since it doesnt stick to surfaces, its less likely to cause the rake to get stuck in the middle of a pass.

As youd likely expect, given its ability to keep messes from sticking to surfaces, it makes nice, tight clumps, even in the middle of the box. You shouldnt have much issue with clumps breaking apart as you scoop them either.

Its a good thing this litter is easy to clean, though, because its not the best at controlling odors. In fact, it has its own smell that isnt pleasant, so youll want to sprinkle it with deodorizer religiously and clean it every day.

As long as you stay on top of cleaning the box, Slide Multi-Cat is one of the companys best litters and certainly its best value, which is why it earns a silver medal here.

  • Doesnt stick to bottom or sides of box
  • Makes tight clumps
  • Cuts down on wasted litter
  • Performs well in self-cleaning boxes
  • Litter has a pungent smell
  • Struggles to contain odors
  • Takes a long time to clump up

Arm & Hammer Ultra Last Clumping Cat Litter

Ultra Last Clumping is intended to provide long-term odor control, so youd think it would be an excellent choice for busy pet owners who cant clean the litter box out every day. Ultimately, though, it performs much better in theory than in practice.

Instead of containing odors, the manufacturers simply tried to cover up smells by making the litter itself extremely pungent. This stuff is swimming in perfume, and the smell is so overpowering that you might actually be grateful when your cat climbs in to use it.

That wont last long, though, because then youll just have a combination of waste and perfume lingering in the air.

It doesnt clump so much as it makes mud, and your cat will track that wet, sticky mess all over your house. As you can imagine, scooping those wet messes is a chore.

The good news is that it doesnt kick up much dust, so if thats your only criteria, feel free to give this a whirl. Otherwise, though, we expect youll be happier with any of the other options listed.

  • Difficult to scoop

Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Cat Litter Best Overall

Arm & Hammer Slide Clumping Litter Unbox/Review

There are only two things you want a kitty litter to do: Clump neatly and seal in odors. As you might expect given the name, Clump & Seal is exemplary at both.

It quickly clumps up when it comes in contact with a mess, and the clumps are hard, making them easy to scoop out . This helps each box last a long time, as youre not wasting litter on messes that spread unnecessarily.

You wont have to deal with much dust either, which may be related to the clumping abilities.

It can seal in odors for up to a week, giving you plenty of time to clean out the box before your home starts to stink. This is a multi-cat formula too, so you can imagine how powerful the odor control would have to be in that case.

The biggest issue we have with this formula is its tendency to stick to paws, which leads to it being tracked all over your house. You can solve this to a certain extent by placing a mat outside the box, but its annoying all the same.

Overall, though, Clump & Seal is our favorite Arm & Hammer litter, and we feel its clearly deserving of its place atop this list.
